Metropolis of Philadelphia is the main Orthodox Christian Metropolis in the State of Jordan and has been active since the beginning of the 19th century. It contains an organized collection of old icons, salvaged from ancient monasteries and churches of the area.
The collection of the Greek Orthodox Metropolia Library will be used at the final stages of the project to test the application of the image-based modelling to objects other than manuscripts. In particular, we will test our models with inks found on icons. The library will prepare the icons and provide access for digitisation, as well as provide us with the local historical information.
The library will host the digitisation equipment after the completion of
the project.
