Museun of Kykkos Monastery, Cyprus

The Museum of Kykkos Monastery was founded in 1990 under the auspices of the Hygoumen of the Kykkos Monastery one of the biggest and oldest monasteries of Cyprus. It is organized in a very modern system according to contemporary museological rules. The collection includes various exhibits such as icons, holy objects, woodcarvings, vestments and manuscripts great historical importance. Objects made of parchment and paper, including manuscripts with or without miniatures, documents and drawings on paper, and 80 manuscripts dating from the 15th to the 19th century which are considered to be of great historical importance and will be used for the development of the NOESIS system.

The participation in the NOESIS project will be of great importance for the authentication and historical research of the manuscripts in the collection, whose production methods and materials used are very rare. The library will give access to its collection for digitisation and will provide relevant local historical information.
